Capital Allocation Partners is run by Nathan Reid along with a team of strong 3rd party managers, legal experts, real estate brokers, general contractors, and property managers. Through Arizona Opportunities Fund I, LLC (“FUND I”) and Arizona Opportunities Fund II, LLC (“Fund II”) CAP has participated in approximately $25,000,000 in profitable exits from value add deals since 2010, with a starting capital base of only $1 million between the two funds.
Mr. Reid started his career with E&Y and went on to be a successful CFO/Controller for several Arizona based companies. Mr. Reid has an MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at A.S.U. and is the founder of Southwest Realty and Property Management, LLC (subsequently Sold to Realogy, NYSE: RLGY). Before managing Fund I and II, Mr. Reid was involved in dozens of smaller real estate transactions both with his own capital and with transaction based capital. Mr. Reid has attended the Berkshire Hathaway meeting for 17 years in a row and is a founder and principal in Bridge Reid Fund I, LP, an opportunistic value equity fund. Mr. Reid is also a 5 time ironman finisher.
Don Merrell began his career in accounting in 1993 after graduating with an accounting degree, Cum Laude, from Arizona State University and worked as a CPA for a Big 6 accounting firm. After leaving public accounting, he held many high-profile roles, including corporate controller, VP Finance, Regional CFO, and Division President, for two large publicly-traded homebuilders. Most recently, he primarily consults in the real estate investment sector with several local and regional home builders across the United States with their land acquisition, product selection, sales, competitive analysis and & financial analysis.
Before his career in accounting and management, Mr. Merrell planed to be a professional golfer, a goal which brought him to Phoenix in 1986. Other than a 15 year assignment in Denver, CO as Division President for the two national homebuilders mentioned above, he has lived in and loved Phoenix and Arizona. He is married and has three children; he mostly enjoys spending time with them and with his granddaughter.
